So we made it to our Butte hotel last night at 8 pm. The Finlen Hotel was a cute historic building situated in a once thriving city, but now is quiet and nearly forgotten. We loved the brick exteriors with fading images of the former life this place once had. It reminded us of the South. We had another delicious meal at the Uptown Cafe across the street from our hotel. Artichoke Ravioli and chicken saltimbuca and local beer called Moose Drool as well as Black Butte from OR. Such a great relaxing place. We checked out a local bar Metals that was once a bank, open vault and everything, to try some other Big Sky brews. We didn’t last long because the long ride and high elevation just about knocked us out! Plus it was 44 degrees out and raining!!
Breakfast at BSCafe that’s Bob & Sandy’s in case you were wondering: ) diner fuel to set us up for the final day of driving!!!
We can’t believe it’s almost over and the real adventure begins! James gets to finish the mountain drive to Idaho, then I’ll take us to Spokane Wa, the former home to the Taylor family circa 1977-1980.
I hope you are enjoying this blog as much as we making it!
